What to Expect at Your First De-addiction Consultation in Mumbai

3 min read · By Dr Shadaab · Updated 23 Oct 2026

Booking the first appointment is often the hardest part. Knowing what happens can make it easier.

Before you arrive

Visits are by appointment only, so you are not kept waiting in a shared area. Call 9322232222, WhatsApp or email help@drshadaab.com. You can come alone or bring a family member. If you take any medicines, bring a list.

What happens in the first visit

  • A private, judgement-free conversation about what you use, how often and what you want to change
  • Questions about your health, mood, sleep, family and work
  • A discussion of your goals, with no pressure to commit to anything
  • A suggested plan: counselling, medical review by a psychiatrist if needed, family support and follow-up

Your privacy

Your consultation is confidential, and an NDA is available on request. We do not share names or stories. Confidentiality has limits, such as an immediate risk of serious harm, and these are explained at the start.

Medical care

If you need medicines or medically supervised withdrawal, our associated psychiatrists, Dr. Priyanka Banokar Pande and Dr. Malik Merchant, can assess you and advise.

Next steps

You will leave with a clear plan and a follow-up date. See our services, our Colaba clinic or book now.
